We have learned that these babies that look so real are a big help to alzheimers and dementia patients in the nursing homes. They are also a big asset to the staff as it helps them bring the patients back to where they can be cared for.
It helps give the patients a sense of purpose and responsibility. It has even been known to help them to remember names of family members and loved ones. And you should see the patients lined up in the foyer of the homes waiting for the delivery of these 'scooter' babies. We are going to have a rally this Fall, to raise money so when we adopt the next nursing home, there will be enough babies for all that are lined up.
Nothing is more heartbreaking than going in and not having enough for all and having to leave behind disappointed and even crestfallen widows with no 'baby' to hold.
